1. Phối màu quan hệ - Related Schemes
1a. Đơn sắc giai - Monochromatic Color Scheme
Một màu kết hợp với các sắc đậm nhạt của nó giúp tạo hiệu ứng hòa sắc.

monochromatic color scheme uses only one hue (color) and all values
(shades or tints) of it for a unifying and harmonious effect.
1b. Màu Tương đồng - Analogous Colors
Ba màu bất kì nằm cạnh nhau trên vòng tròn màu.
Analogous colors are any three colors which are side by side on the color wheel.
2. Phối màu tạo tương phản - Contrasting Schemes
2a. Màu Bổ túc - Complimentary Colors
Hai màu đối diện nhau trên vòng tròn màu.
Khi dùng màu bổ túc trong thiết kế, chúng sẽ tạo cho nhau sáng và mạnh hơn. Tuy nhiên, điều này không phải lúc nào cũng tốt; cũng như nhiều cặp màu bổ túc, màu đỏ và lục có khuynh hướng làm cho nhau có cường độ và sự dao động quá mức dẫn đến đối chọi nhau. Điều này gây ra hậu quả là làm cho khó đọc.
Complimentary colors are colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel.
When used together in a design, they make each other seem brighter and more intense. This is not always a good thing, however, as colors, such as red and green tend to make each other too intense and vibrate against each other. This can make for difficult reading.
2b. Màu Cận bổ túc - Split Complementary Colors
Một màu bất kì kết hợp với 2 màu liền kề với màu bổ túc của nó.
A Split Complementary color scheme is created by choosing any color and adding the two colors adjacent to it's complementary color.
2c. Nhóm 3-màu - Triad
Sử dụng 3 màu cách đều nhau trên vòng tròn màu. Ta có thể sử dụng cả 3 màu hoặc 2 màu bất kì trong Nhóm 3-màu.
This scheme uses three colors evenly spaced from each other on the color wheel.
We can use all three colors in the Triad or any two of the colors.
3. Phối màu xung khắc - Discordant Schemes
3a. Màu Bổ túc đôi - Double Complementary Colors
Hai cặp màu bổ túc.
This color scheme uses two pairs of complementary colors.
3b. Màu Bổ túc xen kẽ - Alternate Complementary Colors
Sử dụng 4 màu: Nhóm 3-màu kết hợp với màu bổ túc của một trong 3 màu đó.
This scheme uses four colors: a triad and a complement to one of the hues.
3c. Nhóm 4-màu - Tetrad
Sử dụng 4 màu cách đều nhau trên vòng tròn màu.
This scheme uses four colors evenly spaced on the color wheel.
